Buy Box

Buy Box ownership is the single most important metric for resellers and a non-issue for private-label brands. When multiple sellers list the same ASIN (typically wholesale, retail arbitrage, online arbitrage scenarios), they compete for the Buy Box, and the winner gets the lion's share of sales. Amazon's Buy Box algorithm rotates winners based on a weighted score: price (heavily weighted, but not always the lowest price wins), fulfillment method (FBA usually wins over FBM), seller performance metrics (ODR, late shipment rate, cancellation rate), shipping speed, and stock health. Private-label sellers usually own the Buy Box by default because they're the only seller on the ASIN; losing it usually signals an unauthorized reseller hijacking the listing.
